Adrian Miller Smith, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 11, 2026, in Concord, North Carolina, just one day before his 66th birthday. Born on August 12, 1960, in Augsburg, Germany, Adrian’s life was marked by commitment, adventure, and a deep devotion to his family and country.

Adrian graduated from Myers Park High School in 1978, an achievement that marked the beginning of a purposeful and service-oriented life. Soon after, Adrian enlisted in the US Army, proudly serving his country from 1978 to 1985. This period of military service exemplified his unwavering dedication and sense of duty.

Those who knew Adrian describe him as adventurous in life—a quality evident in each chapter of his journey. He greeted every experience with curiosity and embraced challenges with courage and resilience. His adventurous spirit inspired those around him, cultivating a legacy of perseverance and optimism.

Adrian leaves to cherish his memory his four daughters LaShonda Smith, Brittnee' Smith, Quantavia Walker, and Dominique Smith-Brazile (Jay) of Charlotte, NC; one son Xavier Chisolm of Charlotte, NC. His four brothers Gregory Means (Jury) of Concord, NC; Minter Smith Jr. of Tennessee; Wayne Smith (Minda) of Florida; Reggie Smith (Trina) of Charlotte, NC; six sisters Cynthia Gore-Smith, Sherri Smith, Linda Smith, Gloria Smith, Melissa Smith and Ernestine Terry (Alex) of Charlotte, NC; ten grand children, six great grandchildren along with host of nieces and nephews.

His adventurous spirit inspired those around him, cultivating a legacy of perseverance and optimism.

He was preceded in death by parents Miller Smith and Alice Means Smith, brother Ernest M. Smith, grandparents John Smith, Gertrude Bailey Smith, Aileen White Means and Frank Means.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to VIA Hospice for their care of Adrian and comfort to his family. Additionally, a special thank you to those of the Hidden Valley neighborhood who were there for Adrian as well.

Adrian’s life will be celebrated at a burial service on August 20, 2026, at the Salisbury National Cemetery, located at 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144. The service will begin at 12:30 PM and conclude at 1:00 PM. All who knew Adrian are invited to join in honoring his life and legacy.

Though Adrian Miller Smith has departed this world, his adventurous soul and enduring love for family and country will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
