Anita Rae Hickson

Anita Rae Hickson, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday October 30, 2021 at Atrium-Northeast Hospital in Concord, NC.

She was born in Newfane, NY on July 2, 1940 to the late Thomas and Evelyn O’Donnell.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband James (Andy) Hickson.
She is survived by her sons Thomas (Laura) and Roger; her grandchildren Steven, Jonathan, Victoria, Brenna, Lillian, and Jordan (Izzy); and her sister Zina Peuckert as well as many nieces and nephews.

After graduating Newfane Central High School in 1958 Anita received an Associate’s Degree from Bryant and Stratton College Buffalo, NY. She married James Hickson in 1959 and until his retirement from the U.S. Army in 1970 lived in many places, Kansas, Georgia, Maine, Italy, Maryland, and New York. Anita relocated to North Carolina in 1993 to be near her grandchildren.

Prior to relocating she worked at the Lockport Town and Country Club as their bookkeeper. After moving to North Carolina, she was employed as an Apartment Manager and worked at Kmart, retiring from both.
