Cheryl Diane Wilcox Norton, “Cherry Pie”, 72 passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 surrounded by her family. Cherry Pie was born in Virginia on January 28, 1950 to the late Wayne and Doreen Wilcox.

She retired from Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC in February of 2013 after 23 years of service. She precedes her husband of 28 years in death, Thomas Norton. Cherry had two siblings, Wayne Wilcox, Jr. and Valerie Armeen. She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Collins, husband Mike Collins, and step-daughter, Karen Miller, husband Roy Miller. She leaves behind one granddaughter, Jessie Collins as well as many nieces and nephews.

Cherry Pie was taken from her family much too soon due to heart failure. She had a precious, loving spirit drawing people to her immediately. She loved all creatures great and small. Her backyard was a sanctuary for all her feathered friends and squirrels. She kept them well fed!

She never met a stranger, always sharing her love with all who came in contact with her. She loved the Lord and her family more than life. If you needed a prayer warrior, she was the person to call.

We have heard her called by many names including; Beautiful Spirit, Beautiful Blonde, The Candy lady, Bird Whisperer, Green Thumb, Sweet Kind Hearted Angel, and many more. But to her family; she was Momma, Nanny, and Aunt Cherry Pie.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Grace Covenant Church located at 17301 Statesville Road, Cornelius, NC 28031. The visitation will begin at 5:00PM and the memorial service will follow at 6:30PM.
