Darnell Tramel Johnson (Munch) was born on December 15, 1981, in Buffalo, New York, to Rosalie Cook and the late Sherman Allison. A proud native son of Buffalo, Darnell was raised with deep values of loyalty and friendship.
He was educated in the Buffalo Public School System and graduated from South Park High School, earning a Regents Diploma with a specialization in Science. Darnell had a sharp mind, a compassionate heart, and an entrepreneurial spirit that guided his path throughout life. He had the ability to make anyone a believer and motivated others.
Darnell’s love for cars began early and became both his passion and profession. He worked for a time at Basil Cars as a Detail Manager, where his commitment to excellence and customer service always went beyond the mark. His drive and determination led him to co-own TMCB Cars, where he poured his energy into building a successful business rooted in trust and integrity.
Beyond business, Darnell had a heart for mentorship. He believed in lifting others as he climbed and made it his mission to inspire young men. He founded the Sons of Kings Mentorship Program at Buffalo Public School #97, offering guidance, support, and encouragement to help shape the next generation.
Darnell also had a deep love for music, enjoying a wide range of genres—from rock and R&B to classic and hip-hop. His home was often filled with music, laughter, and the joyful presence of his children, whom he loved beyond measure.
On July 24, 2019, Darnell married the love of his life, Makeda. Together, they shared a bond rooted in partnership and family. Their union was filled with countless memories that will be cherished forever including Sunday family dinners, chess playing, and family movie nights.
Darnell leaves to celebrate his life and legacy: his wife, Makeda; his beloved children, Christopher, Maliq, Tramel, Jayla, Dartrice, Harlem, Shaka, Kenneth (KJ), and Reign; his cherished granddaughter, Je’Ana; his loving mother, Rosalie Cook (Zanus); his best friends, Perk, Raoul, and Craig; and a host of aunts, uncles, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss his presence.
He was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Tashaia; his father, Sherman Allison; his grandmothers, Barbara Johnson and Sandra Archibald; and his brother, Joseph Elston, Jr. (JoJo).
Darnell will be remembered for his comedic spirit, infectious smile, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
