Donna Lynn Casey

August 12, 1961 — December 6, 2025

Charlotte, NC

Donna Lynn Dew Casey passed Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte NC, following an aggressive cancer diagnosis.

She leaves her two daughters Ashley and Allie Casey, brother William Vance Dew III, sister Sharon Faye Andrews, two dogs and many amazing friends.

Donna Lynn Dew Casey was born on August 12th, 1961, in Waycross, GA. And was a lifelong resident of Charlotte, NC.

Donna grew up in Dothan, AL with her sister Sharon Andrews and her brother William Vance Dew III. Donna went to college at University of Montevallo where she earned a degree in education.

Donna taught in many elementary schools across the Charlotte Metro area. Education was not just a career but her passion. She loved to help children read and encouraged struggling readers with fun games and by sharing her love of literature.

During her early years in education, she spent a period of time working as an event planner. From Bar Mitzvahs to Disney Princess parties and everything in between, party planning was another passion of hers. It allowed her to use another facet of her creativity to bring joy into the world.

One of Donna’s greatest and proudest accomplishments was founding her own company, Camp KC—a children’s summer camp she started in 2006 that continues to thrive today. Donna devoted herself to building the camp and formed lifelong friendships with counselors, families, and campers. At its peak, there were six different Swim & Racquet clubs that hosted Camp KC.

During the winter months, Donna was already reflecting on what was relevant in kids’ worlds and turning those ideas into themed weeks for Camp KC. Many of you reading this were likely somehow involved in camp in some sort of fashion. Donna loved bringing communities together and working towards a cause that was bigger than herself.

Donna was an avid bird watcher, updating her friends and family when her favorite birds would appear at her feeders. She stayed active with weekly pickleball games, long walks with her dog Luna and Pilates sessions. She had an incredible green thumb-growing vegetables and keeping beautiful flowers year round. She cherished meeting friends for martinis (likely at Red Rocks) and spending quiet evenings on the back porch with her two dogs.

Lastly, out of all of her favorite things, being at the beach tops them all. Donna was a true beach bum. She could lay in the sun from morning to evening perfectly content with the sound of the waves, and sun on her face bringing her peace.

We miss her dearly but are comforted knowing she is surrounded by her soul dog Roxy and will continue to guide us through life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations to The Head and Neck Cancer Alliance and Classroom Central.
