Huntersville

Elizabeth Scott Albert, better known as Betsy went home to her heavenly father on May 13, 2025 in Huntersville, North Carolina, at the age of 80. Born on June 8, 1944, in Radford, Virginia, she spent most of her life in this beautiful area of southwest Virginia with rolling hills, farm lands and the peaceful New River flowing through town.

Betsy is survived by her two daughters: Kelly Moss and her husband, John of Huntersville; Wendy Albert and Tom White of Media, PA. She is survived by five grandchildren: Tyler Moss of Greensboro, NC, Landon Moss of Charlotte, NC, Keegan Moss of Orlando, Fla, Kylie White of Media, PA and Emma White of Media, PA.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents Arlie Glenn Wilson and Lillian Alderman Wilson, one sister Constance Hoover and her brother-in-law, Sonny Hoover, and one brother Thomas Wilson.  She is survived by one sister-in-law Betty Jean Wilson.

Betsy worked for several doctors over her lifetime but found her home working in the Admissions Office of Radford University.  She loved being on campus and helping students on a daily basis.  She retired from Radford University in 2009.  She enjoyed her retirement with daily walks along the New River in Bisset Park, weekly activities at the Radford Senior Citizen Center, and fellowship at Central United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed her Sunday school friendships and learning more about her faith.

Betsy was animal lover through and through and over the years nutured and loved many cats.  Loved her visits with her grand fur babies and enjoyed visits with animals of all kinds in her assisted living facility in Huntersville.

Betsy loved watching sports especially her Virginia Tech football team.  She followed several teams of her children and grandchildren.

Her children would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Cadence in Huntersville for their love and support and Via Hospice of Charlotte who lovingly cared for Betsy in final weeks.

Betsy's wishes were to be cremated and spread on her beloved New River.  Her daughters and family will fufill her wish in the days to come in her peaceful home in Virginia.

The family asks that memorials be made to your local animal shelter, Cornelius Animal Shelter, or Charlotte Animal Shelter. She loved animals and her heart poured out to animals left alone without family to love and nuture.
