Ellen Moore Kearns

Ellen Moore Kearns passed peacefully Wednesday 29, 2021 at her home after a long battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Gray Kearns and her two children, Janie K. Pless of Concord and Jeffrey G. Kearns of Charlotte.  Also loving Nana to granddaughter, Brooke Abuoelezz and husband Ahmed of Cornelius and grandson Dalton Pless of Concord.

Ellen was born on June 18, 1934 in Kernersville, NC , to the late Robert and Janie Moore. She was one of five children and has two surviving sisters, Jackie Samuels of Charlotte and Pat Inman of High Point.

After marrying Gray, they lived in Illinois while he was in the Air Force, and later lived in High Point, NC, Nashville, TN, Rocky Mount, NC and have been in Concord for 45 years. Not long after moving to Concord in 1976, Ellen began working at McGill Child Development Center and quickly became beloved "Miss Ellen" to several generations of 4 year olds.

Ellen was a long-time member of Rocky Ridge Methodist Church and was a constant at Friday Hot Dogs and Sunday preaching. Rocky Ridge and her relationship with God were a very important part of Ellen's life and her family knows that she has a special pew made just for her in Heaven.

Ellen also spent many years volunteering at the Cooperative Christian Ministry of Concord, working most Mondays in their food pantry helping those in need.

Final arrangements have not been determined yet but in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church and/or Hospice of Cabarrus County in her memory.
