Felisa had a kind heart and a generous spirit.

Felisa Nicole Pridgen was born on February 11, 1970, at Greene County Hospital in Snow Hill, North Carolina, to Laureen (Irene) Thompson Forrest and the late Leslie Pridgen, Jr.

Felisa was raised in Newark, New Jersey, in the Scudder Homes Housing Projects. She attended Morton Street Elementary School, West Kinney Middle School, and Central High School. Those years in Newark formed a significant part of the woman Felisa became. She later earned a Certificate in Business Administration from Bryan College in Topeka, Kansas.

Felisa had a kind heart and a generous spirit. She loved playing cards—especially Pity Pat and Spades—and her homemade potato salad was a family favorite that everyone looked forward to at family gatherings. She enjoyed listening to R&B, club, and house music, and there was rarely a gathering where she didn’t enjoy good music, good food, and the company of those she loved. And we can’t forget her beloved NY Knicks, she got the be here for their 2026 NBA Championship win!! Knicks in 5!!🏀

Above all, Felisa cherished her family, especially her children and her beloved grandson. In addition, she accepted Christ in her heart as her Lord & Savior and lived some of her final days engaged in family bible studies, prayer, and praise and worship! We take comfort in knowing that while she is absent from her body, she is present with the Lord!

So, after a years-long journey marked by recurrent colon cancer, heart disease, multiple hospital stays, and twelve days in hospice, Felisa’s suffering came to a peaceful end, and she quietly took flight to a better destination. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that her pain has ended and that the love she shared will remain with us always.

Felisa leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Laureen (Irene) Thompson Forrest; her devoted daughter, Dimitra Nicole Herring and beloved grandson, Dionysus; her loving son, Mekhi Jayden Pridgen; her siblings, Rachelle Wooten-Taylor (Patrick), Anthony Wooten (Gwendolyn), Verleatha “Cookie” Williams (Donald), Michael Vick (Juanita), Mae Auletta (Jack), Sharon Robinson (William), Terris Thompson, and Danica Marciante (Daniel); along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing and loving her.

Felisa’s legacy is one of possibilities, hope, love, laughter, and family. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly carried in our hearts.

Loved ones and friends are invited to honor Felisa’s memory and celebrate her life at a series of services on July 10, 2026. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Raymer-Kepner Chapel, located at 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC. This will be followed by a funeral service at noon at the same chapel, with an opportunity for those unable to attend in person to join via livestream. The day of remembrance will conclude with burial at Rutherford Memorial Cemetery, 480 Rutherford St. SW Concord, NC 28025, at 2:00 p.m.
