Frank James Day

Frank James Day was born in Crawfordsville, Arkansas on June 8, 1952 to Fannie Lee Day and was raised by Fannie and his step-father the late Bernard Garland (B.G.) White who preceded him in death. Frank departed this life on May 13, 2025 in Concord, NC. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, John (J.D.) Day, Susie Day, Omelon White, Wilsie White and his nephew, Alexander Michael White.

Frank was baptized at an early age at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ located in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended First Baptist Church in Earle, Arkansas, until his health declined. The family later relocated him to North Carolina to better facilitate his care.

Frank attended McNeil School and trained as an automobile mechanic and a welder. While living in Arkansas, he fathered two children with Ida Brown who preceded him in death -- Karen Brown and Jerry Brown (Dana). He later moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked as an auto mechanic. There he met and married Gail Hankerson. To this union were born two children Frank James Day, Jr. (Freida) and Arthelrus Day-Griffin (Victor).

In addition to his wife and children, Frank leaves: his mother Fannie White, two sisters: Beverly Hankerson of Concord, North Carolina; Christine Tennon of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers: Melvin White of Washington, D.C. and Michael White (Brenda) of Harrisburg, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends
