The Early Years: Girish Desai was born to the late Jeramdas & Shantaben Desai in Sorjitra, Gujarat, India. Girishbhai was raised by his grandmother & her sister in Nadiad, Gujarat.
He had two brothers and 4 sisters: Late Rashikaben, Bhaktiben, Gitaben, Late Prahladbhai, Harshadbhai, and Prakrutiben.
Marriage: He was married to Indiraben for 61 years and lived in East Africa, India, and USA. He loved his wife especially her cooking. Both loved watching old classical movies, listening to Hindi songs and spending time with their grandchildren.
Living: Girishbhai lived in Nadiad, East Africa, & USA(GA,MD & NC). He lived in Concord & Charlotte, NC area since 2006.
Career: Girishbhai was in banking from Africa & India. In the USA he spent most of his working years in the textile industry.
Girishbhai’s biggest impact was his family. As the eldest & first son of his family, culturally he had tremendous responsibility for his parents and siblings. He was a man of his duty who served his family in Africa and India with compassion. He provided them with guidance on important decisions of life. Girishbhai was loyal and reliable friend to many in the India, Africa, London, and USA. He kept in good touch with them over the years and maintained relations with all til his passing. Girishbhai was comfortable in the presence of others and activity around him. He was observer and deeply cared for those that were close to him. He viewed life with such humility and humor.
Girishbhai encouraged and supported his children & grandchildren to be their best in everything that life has to offer.
Girishbhai was fond of cricket, tennis, and loved politics of all around the world. He loved watching his Indian shows like Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, and fond of old movies & classical music.
Girishbhai Desai. Age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
Girishbhai is survived by his daughters: Jagruti Patel and Toral Patel; His son-in-law: Minesh and Mishail Patel; His grandsons: Khushal, Aman, Ethan, and Aaron Patel; Girishbhai deeply cared about all of his extended family especially his grandchildren. He spoke of them often and fondly.
Girish’s (lalabhai) joyful presence will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
