He loved gathering around the table for family dinners, spending time with loved ones, sitting outside enjoying the warmth of the sunshine.

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Harry Thompson, who entered eternal rest at the age of 78.

Born on June 20, 1948, in Snow Hill, North Carolina, Harry was the son of the late Samuel Thompson and Jinnie Bell Thompson. He was a humble, hardworking man whose life reflected quiet strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith. For many years, Harry worked as a landscaper, taking great pride in honest work and providing for his family until his retirement.

Harry was known for his peaceful spirit, kind heart, and generous nature. He never sought recognition, yet his gentle presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. A devoted man of faith, Harry loved the Lord and believed wholeheartedly in the power of prayer. Whenever challenges arose, he would faithfully plead the blood of Jesus over every situation, trusting that God hears those who call upon Him. His unwavering confidence in God’s faithfulness became a source of strength, comfort, and encouragement to those around him.

Harry found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gathering around the table for family dinners, spending time with loved ones, sitting outside enjoying the warmth of the sunshine, and relaxing while watching professional wrestling, classic Westerns, and karate movies. His contentment with life’s simple blessings reflected the gratitude he carried in his heart. One of the greatest joys of Harry’s final season of life came just weeks before his passing when he celebrated his 78th birthday party he had ever experienced. It was the first birthday party he had ever experienced. He laughed, danced, proudly blew out the candles on his cake, and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the love shown to him. That unforgettable celebration became a treasured memory for everyone who shared in the day and a beautiful reminder that it is never too late to make someone feel deeply loved.

His contentment with life’s simple blessings reflected the gratitude he carried in his heart.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Thompson and Jinnie Bell Thompson, his wife, Gloria Thompson; his son, Jerry Alexander; his brother, Council J. Langston (Luoceile); his brother, Samuel C. Thompson (Jean); his brother, Lymton E. Thompson (Betty); and his sister, Geraldine Thompson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved sister, Lauren Forrest, his son, Naeem Alexander, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, cherished friends, and all whose lives were blessed by his kindness, gentle spirit, and steadfast faith.

Although we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the hope of the Gospel. The man who faithfully trusted God throughout his life now rests safely in His eternal care. Harry’s gentle smile, humble spirit, and unwavering trust in God will forever remain in our hearts.

Well done, good and faithful servant.
