Helen Shuping Lyerly, 89, of Harrisburg, NC passed away peacefully April 28, 2022
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Gertrude Shuping; her brothers, Billy Joe Shuping, and Jay Shuping.
She is survived by her sisters, Lydia Sparklin; Polly Nichols; and Ann Furr, along with her sons and daughter in laws, Michael Lyerly and Corinne Lyerly of Buxton, NC and Jeffrey Lyerly and Kimberly Lyerly of Concord, NC. She also had five loving grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Helen graduated from Concord High School, class of 1952. She worked for a time at the Concord Tribune. From the early sixties through the late seventies she worked for Charlotte Motor Speedway as a secretary and ticketing agent. After leaving the speedway she worked as a barber for many years. She was a Hospice volunteer and also did volunteer work for Atrium Health.
Her favorite places in the world were Cherry Grove, South Carolina and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She spent the happiest days of her life in these places with both family and friends. She always had a smile ready for everyone she met, along with an unwavering positive attitude that she maintained through many trials and tribulations.
Helen was loved and will be very much missed by many.
