Humberto Rojas, 95, passed away peacefully at his granddaughter’s home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josefina Vargas, his daughter Sonia Nagel, whom he lost just last year and his granddaughter Denisse Delgado.
Born and raised in Peru, Humberto carried with him a deep pride in his roots and a profound love for his homeland. In his 40s, he made the courageous decision to migrate to the United States, determined to build a better future for his family. Through years of hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication, he brought his wife and each of his children to the U.S. one by one, ensuring they had opportunities he never had. His efforts opened doors for his children and grandchildren to pursue education, grow professionally, and build meaningful lives grounded in the values he instilled — love, unity, and the importance of family.
He is survived by his children: Gabriela Rojas, Aurora Delgado, Mario Rojas, Manuel Rojas, Luis Rojas and Jorge Vega, as well as many grandchildren and great‑grandchildren who adored him. To all of them, he was not only a father and grandfather but the steady patriarch of the family — a source of wisdom, strength, and unconditional support.
Humberto spent most of his life working in the restaurant industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and warm presence. In his free time, he enjoyed watching soccer and tennis. He loved going for walks at Flushing Park in Queens and reading his cherished Manuel la Fuente Estefania and Clark Carrado mini stories, small pleasures that brought him peace and joy.
His legacy is one of resilience, devotion, and love. He leaves behind a family whose lives were shaped by his sacrifices and guided by his example. His presence will be deeply missed, but the values he lived by will continue to echo through the generations he helped build.
A service to honor his life will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Raymer‑Kepner Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.
