Ivey Murrell Cook, III

Ivey Murrell Cook III, 62, of Charlotte, NC passed away on December 9, 2021 at home while sleeping.

Ivey was born in Charlotte at Mercy Hospital on December 18, 1958 to the late Ivey Murrell Cook and the late Katherine Workman Cook.

Ivey is survived by his wife of 36 years, Valerie Strauss Cook, their three children, Justin Cook (Kylie) grandson Josiah, Christopher Cook (Chelsea) and Chelsea Cook Glacken (Justin). Ivey is survived by his older sister, Joy Cook Sullivan (Michael), younger brother Tom Cook (Kasha Winnicki) and sister Linda Cook Davis (Stephen). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Michelle Strauss Bartlett (Joe), niece, Hannah Jean Bartlett. Ivey also leaves behind his dog, Bella, that he adored and five very special "grand dogs" Tucker, Ariel, Buddy, Patti, and Pepper and grandcat Molly. There are countless friends and extended family that Ivey loved and loved to share time with.

Ivey was like the energizer bunny. He could go, go go. He loved to travel, spend time with his family and he loved automobiles. It did not matter if they were new or old. He passed that love down to his children. He was a wealth of information and enjoyed sharing that information in the Hornets Nest Region Auto Club. There were not many car shows or museums that he could pass up! He enjoyed competitive driving schools and went frequently with his sons and son-in-law.

Ivey's presence was missed immediately. His passing leaves a void that is larger than any of us that are left behind. We grieve, we smile, and we share "Ivey" stories to pull us through this difficult time.

Ivey you are missed; you are loved. God speed until we see you again.

Ivey believed in giving back to the community. He would be thrilled if you donated to your local fire station. His favorite charity was "Toys for Tots". Giving to those in need was always special to his heart.

A Memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2022. The date is to be determined but will posted in time.
