James Edwin Baugh

January 9, 1935 — October 26, 2025

Harrisburg, NC

James Edwin Baugh, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Sunday after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. He was 90.

Born in Springfield, Ohio, Jim graduated from Washington High School in Massillon, Ohio before earning his degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. His career was marked by dedication and integrity, but it was his passions that truly defined him.

Jim was married to the love of his life, Betty Jo Wiskofske Baugh, for 62 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and family. For the past 52 years, they made their home in Asheville, North Carolina.

An avid golfer, Jim proudly achieved a hole-in-one at the Asheville Municipal Golf Course. He also enjoyed tennis and table tennis and was a recreational pilot who found joy in the skies. He loved playing cards and chess and taught the family to ski on Cataloochee Mountain. Above all, he cherished time spent surrounded by his family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jo Baugh of Harrisburg, NC; his sister, Pat McConahey of Wilmington, NC; and his five children: Julie Etris, Jerri Blackburn, Keith Baugh, John Baugh, and Jeff Baugh. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Nathan Baugh, Neil Baugh, Caycie Etris, Ayla Blackburn, Nicole Baugh, and Jake Baugh.

Jim will be remembered for his warmth, his wit, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
