James Lloyd Clarey passed away peacefully at his home in Charlotte, NC on March 8th. He was 57.
Jim was born in Rome, NY on August 8, 1968 to Jean A. Schoner (nee Walker) and Bernard M. Clarey, Jr. He attended Rome Free Academy and Mohawk Valley community college in the 1980’s. Introduced at a young age by his dad to the drums. Jim was an accomplished drummer/musician. He performed with the Charlotte area bands, Good Night Swim, Whatever and Bullet The Blue Sky. He made amazing connections with many of his bandmates and fans, travelling all over the country doing what he loved most. He was an avid golfer and was a devoted New York Yankees and Carolina Panthers fan. Jim was a child at heart and loved nothing more than a good game of whiffleball in the backyard.
Jim is predeceased by his Grandparents Mary and Llyod Walker, and Margaret Clarey, Father Bernard M. Clarey, Jr, his stepmother Starr Ann (Crowell) Clarey, and His nephew Matthew A. Cotton.
He leaves behind his mother Jean A. Schoner and step father Donald J Schoner of Homer, GA, brother Daniel Clarey and his wife Janice of Cranberry, PA, sister Deborah Thomas and husband Jim of Palmetto, FL, sister Amy Clarey of Youngsville NC and sister Mary Sommers and husband Jim of Pendergrass, GA. Nieces and nephews ,Jill (Matt) children: Hudson, August and Julian; Kyle (Meghan), children:Daniel, and Katie and Patrick; Anne Marie (Ben), children Oliva,Benjamin and Gabriel; Erin (wife of Matthew predeceased) children Matthew, Tristan; Nicole children: Brandon,Reilynn; Leann (Lance) child Alice; Emily,Izzy,Faith; Kayla children: Sawyer, Aria; Faith children: Tucker, Kolson; Emma child Wren, Peyton and Lauren.He was loved by all including friends that were like family to him.
