Joan Maxine Brown

Joan Maxine Brown, 85, went to be with the Lord, December 18, 2017 at CMC Northeast in Concord, NC.

She was born September 24, 1932 to the late Harley and Hilda Boomershine in Bell Center, Ohio.

Joan is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ron Brown; daughters Brenda Clem (Gary) and Janice Freistuhler (Nick); grandchildren Joe, Jennifer, Josh, Julie, and Jenna; 14 great grandchildren; and sister Bev Proeshel.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Don Boomershine.

Joan is remembered as a very loving and giving person with an infectious giggle.  She had a heart for taking care of others, including her husband Ron; an 11 year lung cancer survivor. Joan also loved animals.  She enjoyed her hummingbird feeders and even gained the trust from squirrels to eat from her hand.  Family was Joan's world.  She was big into holidays and really got into Halloween and Christmas.  It wasn't uncommon for to dress up in Halloween costume to surprise her children at school.  Whether it was dressing up as a hobo or a monkey, Joan believed in making memories with those she loved most.  Christmas was another favorite time for Joan.  She was known for making special candies during Christmas time along with other amazing dishes.  She was a wonderful cook and her meatloaf was the best in the world.

Joan enjoyed camping with her husband, Ron.  They shared many memories while spending the winter months in Florida or going out west.  Though hearts are heavy, memories and laughter are comforting during this difficult time.  Joan was part of a small, but very strong family that loves her dearly.  She will never be forgotten.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
