John James Devereaux

John James Devereaux, 65, of Concord, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31st, 2025. John was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on May 14th, 1960 to the late John Devereaux and Martha Devereaux.

Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by his sons, Jesse Devereaux and Ryan Robbins. He is survived by his brother, Craig Devereaux (Cynthia), and his sisters, Barbara Fernandez, Andrea Zisman (Wade), Darline Collins (Paul) and Nadine Cogburn.

He is also survived by his sons, Jason Robbins, John Devereaux (Hannah), Jamie Devereaux (Kristen), Christopher Robbins and his grandchildren, Aaliyah, Jaylynn, Konnar, Haley, Allie, Kashton and Jameson. Along with many nieces and nephews.

John spent most of his life working in a woodshop. He loved creating things out of wood and would tell anyone stories of all the projects he completed. John loved animals and was referred to as the cat person by his family because of his habit of taking in stray cats in his neighborhood. Throughout his life John had many pets, including German Shepherds, ferrets, iguanas, turtles, and of course cats.

John loved the New York Mets and New York Islanders. He enjoyed going to games when he lived in New York and would watch every game on tv. He loved being outdoors, BBQ’s, spending time with his family and friends, and visiting his friends in Colorado.

A celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 from 1pm- 4pm at Kerr Memorial Baptist Church in Concord, North Carolina.
