Judy Anne (Chavis) Kirkpatrick passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1st, 2025, at the age of 69. Judy was born on May 21st, 1956, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, to Shirley and George Chavis.
Judy built a wonderful life centered around the people she cherished most. She began her career as an executive assistant with Fred Collins Advertising, but after 15 years, she chose to retire so she could devote her heart, time, and energy fully to her family. Her children’s lives quickly became her life’s greatest work. Judy rarely missed a school event, a game, or a milestone. She served joyfully at Central Cabarrus High School, eventually becoming president of the Booster Club, always cheering on not only her own children but countless others who came to know her as a steady, loving supporter.
Judy’s creativity and nurturing spirit were evident in everything she touched. Her passion for gardening led her to work at Speedway Florists, where she shared her gift for beauty through floral arrangements and handcrafted decorations. Whether she was making wreaths, tending her flowers, or preparing one of her unforgettable meals, Judy found her greatest joy in creating spaces where people felt cared for and welcomed. Her home was a gathering place—a spot where laughter carried, meals were shared, and love was always felt.
Her greatest love story began in high school, when she met her sweetheart, Johnny K., in 1974. They married on September 29th and recently celebrated 51 years of marriage—years filled with devotion, adventure, and companionship. Together, they built a life rich with memories, from weekend trips to their beloved vacation home in Craigsville, Virginia, to cheering from the sidelines at their grandchildren’s sporting events. At home, they created a peaceful backyard retreat where they spent countless evenings birdwatching, listening to music, and simply enjoying one another’s presence. Judy and Johnny were true partners, best friends, and soulmates who never took each moment together for granted.
Judy’s greatest legacy is her family, whom she loved with her whole heart. She is survived by her devoted husband, Johnny; her children, Jennifer Lynn (Brent), Jessica Marie (Brandon), Jeffrey Lawrence (Randall); her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy—Anna (Conor), Emma, Kayleigh, John Michael II, Elin, Ella, Averie, Nolan, Maddie, and River; and her great-granddaughter, Jessi Lynn. She is reunited with her beloved son, John Michael, her parents, and her sister, Carol. Judy leaves behind a family deeply shaped by her love, strength, and fierce presence.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at NewLife Church in Locust, NC, on Sunday, December 7th, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to NewLife Church Missionary Fund, in honor of the kindness and generosity that defined Judy’s life.
