Her faith remained an important foundation throughout her life.

Lawonda Stanfield was born on January 13, 1965, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to the late Calvin Neal, Sr. and Birdie Biggs. From the beginning. Lawonda's life would become one defined by faith, family, service, love, and an unwavering commitment to those around her.

Lawonda was educated in Spencer, Oklahoma, and proudly graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1983.

At an early age, Lawonda gave her life to Christ at Greater Coates Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of her grandfather, Superintendent Earnest Byrd. Her faith remained an important foundation throughout her life. Lawonda was a faithful and dedicated member of her church and had a true servant's heart. Over the years, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served over the Children's Church Ministry, and willingly stepped in wherever she was needed. For Lawonda, serving her church was not simply something she did; it was part of who she was.

On December 26, 2005, Lawonda married Frantz Stanfield. Although she was not blessed with biological children, her heart for motherhood was fulfilled through her adopted son, Kendrick Johnson, whom she cherished dearly. Through marriage, she also gained six stepchildren: Frantz Jr., Mautrice, Marquita, Megale, Latifah, and Devin. Her love also extended to her four beloved fur babies, Sampson, Big foot, Zeus, and Kylo, who each held a special place in her heart.

Anyone who knew Lawonda knew that she knew how to enjoy life.

Lawonda began her professional career working for The Black Chronicle Newspaper in Oklahoma City. She later began a remarkable career with United Way, where she dedicated nearly 40 years of service. Her coworkers became much more than colleagues; they became family. Lawanda was loved, respected, and cherished by the many people she encountered throughout her professional life. Her dedication to helping others extended beyond her career, as she enjoyed volunteering her time and talents to various causes throughout the community.

Anyone who knew Lawonda knew that she knew how to enjoy life. She was an avid lover of music and movies and enjoyed attending sporting events. One of her absolute favorite pastimes was BINGO. Whether she was enjoying good music, watching a movie, cheering at a sporting event, volunteering, or heading out for a game of BINGO, Lawonda enjoyed making memories with the people she loved.

More than anything, Lawonda loved people. She had a way of making friends feel like family and family feel deeply loved. Her life touched countless people through her church, career, community involvement, friendships, and family.

After courageously battling cancer, Lawonda transitioned from this earthly life on August 25, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Neal, Sr. and Birdie Biggs; her brother, Calvin Neal, Jr.; and her sister, Coretta Woods.

More than anything, Lawonda loved people.

Lawonda leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband, Frantz Stanfield; her beloved son, Kendrick Johnson; her six stepchildren, Frantz Jr., Mautrice, Marquita, Megale, Latifah, and Devin: one brother, Lonnie "Poochie" Neal (Ann) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister. Tasha Jackson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and two very special nephews, Deanon Davis and Ronald Neal of Charlotte. North Carolina.

She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family members:, church family, coworkers and dear friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Lawanda's earthly journey may have ended, but the love she gave, the faith she demonstrated, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain forever.
