Lydia’s vibrant spirit and generous heart touched all those around her.
Lydia Bondoc Tragora, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026 in Charlotte, NC. She was born on January 2, 1959 in the Philippines, and from her earliest days, Lydia’s vibrant spirit and generous heart touched all those around her.
Lydia is survived by her devoted husband, Jose Tragora, her daughters, Mirafe Beam (Steven) and Mel Baylor (Pierre), her grandchildren Austin Rogers, Chelsie Graham, Gracen Baylor, Nicholas Beam, and Darius Jeffries and her adopted parents Cely Gabuya and Amor Oates.
Known for her boisterous personality and outspoken nature, Lydia’s presence filled any room with unmistakable warmth and laughter. She was famous for her spirited voice—often heard from afar—yet never out of anger, but rather from a boundless zest for life and a desire to connect with those she held dear. Lydia’s generosity knew no bounds; she was always ready to lend a hand or offer guidance to family and friends alike, embodying the true meaning of helpfulness.
A gifted cook, Lydia expressed her love through the meals she passionately prepared. Filipino cuisine held a special place in her heart, and she took great delight in preparing her loved ones’ favorite dishes upon request. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and celebration, where delicious food brought family and friends together in joy and fellowship. Lydia also enjoyed lively games of Mahjong and many evenings spent singing karaoke in the company of close friends. These moments were not merely hobbies, but extensions of her lively soul and the happiness she found in community.
Lydia Bondoc Tragora’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and vibrant energy—a life lived.
