Marcella Diane Lamb

Marcella Diane Lamb (Hickman), 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026.

Born at Woodbury Hospital in New Jersey, Marcella grew up in South Jersey, where she formed lifelong memories and friendships. In 2004, just one day after her first grandchild was born, she moved to Charlotte to be closer to her growing family.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas (Walt) Hickman II and Marcella T. Hickman (Farestad), and her younger brother, Larry Hickman.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Herman Lamb; her daughter, Tina Rakes (Mike Rakes); her son, Tim Lamb (Maria Lamb); her brother, Thomas W. Hickman III (Lois Hickman); her sister-in-law, Ann Hickman; and several nieces and nephews.

Nothing brought Marcella more joy than her four grandchildren: Hayley Rakes, Tessa Lamb, Landon Rakes, and Thomas Lamb. She was their biggest fan and proudest supporter.

She loved decorating for every holiday with her treasured Anna Lee dolls, shopping — whether at the mall or on QVC — watching tv programs like the news, A-Team, and mysteries- and cheering on her grandchildren in all they did. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, always finding ways to make others happy. If Marcella loved you, she loved you with her whole heart.

As per Marcella’s wishes, there will be no formal service. In true Marcella fashion, her last words were spoken to a nurse who asked if we needed anything. Her reply was simple: “A Coke.” In her honor, the family invites you to enjoy her favorite drink — a bottle of Diet Coke or Coca-Cola — and think of her with a smile.
