Nora Lee Bethea, 86, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, John Mitchell Bethea Sr; 8 sons, John Mitchell Bethea Jr., Paul Lawrence Bethea, James Dallas Bethea, Stanley Bethea, Iman Abdul Shaheed Bethea, Min. Garrett Frederick Bethea, Reginald Lamonte Bethea, Michael Anthony Bethea; and 4 daughters, Pennie Bethea-Pavic, Dr. Karoline Bethea-Jones, Sharon Denise Bethea, Audrey Bonita Bethea. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. 4 Brothers: Deacon James L. Cook Sr., Edward Lee Cook (deceased), Samuel Cook (deceased), and Dr. Arthur Cook. 3 Sisters, Annie Lee Cash, Hattie Louise Sampson, and Maggie Cook-Pleasant.
Nora was born on February 8, 1934 to the late James Lawrence and Annie Mae Cook. That was a good day and the beginning of all things good. Nora was raised on a farm in McCall, South Carolina. She attended McCall Elementary School and went to church faithfully every Sunday and participated in Church activities, such as ushering and playing the piano.
Nora always wanted to get married and have a big family and she considers herself blessed because God gave her exactly what she hoped for. Nora whose name means honor and light, is a very spiritual Christian woman and has a loving caring spirit for all people, especially children and the elderly.
The viewing and funeral services will be held at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, 16901 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. Interment will be held at Carolina Memorial Park12015 University City Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28213
