Mrs. Ometa Perkins Moses was born in Florence, SC on November 7, 1934 to the late Mr. Solomon Perkins Sr, and Catherine Perkins; after the early death of her mother Catherine, Ometa and her siblings were raised by her father Solomon Perkins Sr. and her stepmother Mary E. Perkins. Ometa departed on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
Ometa attended the Florence County, South Carolina School System. Ometa later married her childhood sweetheart, Prince Danny Moses on February 9, 1954 and later moved to New York where they raised six children together. Prince and Ometa were married two moths shy of 68 years at the time of Prince’s death in December 2021.
It was in New York after an in-depth study of the Bible, that Ometa Moses was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on April 26, 1962. Ometa was responsible for teaching many (including family members) about Jehovah and aiding many to get baptized.
After working as a supervisor for a major financial institution and later working for several years within the New York School System, Ometa retired and moved with her husband Prince Moses to Charlotte, North Carolina. Ometa was a faithful member of the Linda Lake Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses; the meetings brought her comfort and hope for the future.
Ometa always had a beautiful smile, and enjoyed attending her Christian meetings, field service, spending time with family, arts and crafts, helping people, gardening, eating seafood and antique shopping. Many family members and friends knew she was dependable for her support to all that needed help. She loved her family and looked forward to Jehovah’s promise of a time when pain and death no longer exist.
Ometa is survived by six daughters Adrianne Jones, Denise Carrington (Harold), Cheryl Carraway (Larry), Cathy Smith (Derek), Jennifer Purvis (Craig L.), Leslie Carolyn Bland, a step-son Danny Moses Jr. (Tracy), and an adopted sister/niece Vivian Wells-Matthews (Derek); fourteen grandchildren Christopher Jones (Hriadne), Arielle Jones, Dayna Innocent (Miquel), Enjolique LeMaitre, Nicole LeMaitre, Jazzmine LeMaitre, John LeMaitre, LaTayelle LeMaitre, Danielle Lake-Nestor (Mark), Craig L.
