Rhonda Denese Harris-Martin, beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and caring friend, passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 65 in Concord, NC. Born on July 30, 1959, in Arlington, VA, to Romie Harris and Martha Tyson. Rhonda's vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her loved ones defined her life.
A proud alumna of Wakefield High School, Rhonda thrived both academically and athletically. Her passion for math set the foundation for her future career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, where she shared her compassionate nature with countless patients while working at Novant Health. She also served as a Notary Public to her community. Rhonda was not only devoted to her profession but was also a steadfast support for her family and friends, embodying the very essence of care and kindness.
Rhonda's interests were as diverse as they were numerous; she was known as an avid gift giver, always ready to shower her loved ones with tokens of her affection. A self-proclaimed fashionista, her keen sense of style was matched only by her delightful sense of humor, often reflected in the jokes she delightfully shared. She had a profound love for cooking, especially for creating delicious pasta dishes, with spaghetti and meatloaf being her round-the-clock favorites. Her passion for traveling opened up a world of adventures that she cherished, making beautiful memories along the way. Rhonda's heart danced to the rhythm of music, particularly the sounds of Prince, which brought joy to her soul.
Rhonda leaves behind her beloved husband of 25 years, Samuel Martin, Jr., who was her steadfast partner through life’s journey. She is survived by her cherished children, Erick Romie Harris and Jaid Simone Jackson, and her precious grandchildren, who gave her immeasurable joy: Emoni Harris, Erick Harris Jr., Meisha Gonzales, Kaharri Harris, Khloe Harris, Selena Harris, Catalina Harris, Raphael Harris, Oshun Williams, Konoa Jackson, Lauc-ole Shaw, and Launa Shaw. Her lineage doesn’t stop there, as she also embraced her role as a great-grandmother to Zahir Mehki Phillips-Coulter and Tariq Jahmir Harris, who brought light and laughter into her life.
Rhonda's siblings—Carl Harris (Valerie), Patricia Daniels (Donnie), Helen Harris, Marlene Harris, David Harris, Paula Brown (Neville)—also mourn her passing, as she held a special place in each of their hearts.
A visitation in honor of Rhonda will be held on May 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Raymer-Kepner Chapel located at 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC, 28078.

She will be deeply missed but will always live on in the stories we share and the love that continues to bind her family together.
