Robert James Bruce

February 5, 1935 — December 26, 2023

Concord

Robert James Bruce, 88, of Concord, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

Robert was born in East Orange, NJ on February 5, 1935, to the late Albert Morris Bruce and Jenny Howard Bruce.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lena Olivia Skipper Bruce and his only child Debbi Bruce McCloud and her husband, Pierre McCloud, a host of nephews and nieces and spiritual children.

Along with his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his sister Margaret Slaten and his brother Edward Bruce.

Robert or “Bob” to his friends was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1956. He firmly believed in the Bible’s promise of the new world and living forever on earth according to Psalm 37:29. In the various congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses that he served in SC, NC, GA and FL he served as an Elder and a “father figure” to many. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to jazz, dancing and many saw him “conducting” music of the Kingdom songs. He never met a stranger and befriended all that he met.

Even in his illness he was concerned about pleasing Jehovah God and looking out his window wanting to talk to the “people” to tell them about Jehovah’s wonderful promises for the future, the resurrection hope and looked forward to the time where there will be no more pain, suffering or death, Revelation 21: 3, 4.

A Memorial Service will be held for Robert on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 4 pm at he Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 117 Simpson Road, Locust, NC 28097.
