Rosa Louise Benjamin, daughter of the late Paul and Louise Blount, fell asleep in death on July 1, 2024, at the age of 84. Her family migrated to Mount Vernon, New York where she attended Edison High School. She then met Samuel Benjamin and married on June 21, 1958.
Rosa went on to receive her certification as a nursing assistant and later worked as a secretary. Her career of choice quickly changed after coming in contact with Jehovah’s Witnesses at her place of employment and through the door-to-door ministry. Rosa previously wondered why a God of love would allow suffering by means of hellfire.
Although she was unable to find satisfying answers in the past, Rosa knew there was something different about Jehovah’s Witnesses as they were truly students of God’s Word, the Bible. And she was not disappointed. She received satisfying answers from the Bible, quickly progressed baptism, and made the decision to enter the full -time volunteer ministry as a Bible teacher in the fall of 1975. Rosa set an excellent example of making sacrifices to put Jehovah first and served faithfully as a Regular Pioneer for over 40 years. Rosa cherished the Bible truths that she learned and zealously helped many people come to know her loving God Jehovah.
Rosa deeply loved her family and her “Precious” brotherhood. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 66 years, Samuel Benjamin, son Brian Benjamin (wife Resa), daughter Celeste Black (son-in-law Ellis), daughter-in-law Meshelle Benjamin, grandchildren Candice, Deon, Shanice, Gary Jr., great-grandchildren Ayana, Kweli, Jaylen, and great-great grandchildren Jaylen Jr., Ashley and Zair. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
Rosa was preceded in death by her daughter Terry Cole.
