Sherman Covington

Sherman Covington, Jr, 52, of Charlotte, NC passed away on January 6, 2022.

Sherman was born on February 3, 1969 at home by midwife in Darlington, SC. He was born to his parents Sherman Covington Sr. of Darlington, SC and his mother Wantinea Covington-Virgo of Charlotte, NC.

He is preceded in death by his brother Christopher Covington, sister Whitney Covington, aunts Betty Mackey, Mary Artis and uncles Willie, Joseph and Tommy Covington.

Sherman moved to New York at an early age where he received his education. Sherman worked as a construction worker. He was a loving and kindhearted person who loved his family dearly. Sherman would do anything he could for anyone. His presence will be missed by his family and friends.

Sherman leaves to cherish his memories his parents, his sons D'Andre and Dante Covington of Fayetteville, NC, brothers Brian Covington (Vanessa) of Canada, Victor Covington (Shanae) of Charlotte, NC, and Kevin Virgo of Allentown, PA; sisters Sharon Mack of Darlington, SC, Deondria Holmes (William) of Sumter, SC, Simone and Tamika Virgo of Allentown, PA;aunts Delores McCreary of Charlotte, NC, Dora Covington of Darlington, SC, Lilia Covington Canty of Winston Salem, NC, Bessie Covington of Darlington, SC, Martha Jenkins of Merrick, CT, uncles Ike Artis of Newark, NJ, Levern Covington of Darlington, SC, Jimmy Covington (Hosetta) Covington and Ronnie and Donnie Covington of Darlington, SC, Nathaniel Covington(Tonia McCall) of Utah, great aunt Willnelmenia Heart from Far Rockaway, NY, six nieces, eight nephews and a host of family and friends.

A visitation will be held at 1pm Friday January 14, 2022 at Central Church (5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270). The funeral service will follow at 2pm.
