Obituary for Sherri Lynn McDermott

Concord, NC - Sherri Lynn McDermott, a dedicated and hard-working individual known for her successful commercial and residential cleaning business, passed away on May 31, 2024 at her home in Concord, NC. She was born on March 23, 1972, Jacksonville, FL. Sherri was the beloved daughter of Donald McKinney and Virginia White McKinney.

Sherri will be remembered for her caring and selfless nature. She was the glue that held her family together and always put others first. Her expertise in cleaning not only shone through in her business but also in how she helped friends and family members who were unwell or needed assistance with tasks around their homes. Sherri's caregiver spirit was evident in everything she did.

One of Sherri's proudest accomplishments was her role as the primary caretaker for her mother, Virginia. She cherished her family and was a loving mother to Jesse Lee McDermott and James "Tripp" McDermott III. 

Aside from her dedication to work and family, Sherri had a quirky side to her too - she was a huge fan of the Smurfs. Her interests added a unique charm to her personality.

Sherri is survived by her loving son James "Tripp" McDermott III and daughter-in-law Allison McDermott; mother Virginia White McKinney; brothers Jeffrey McKinney and Christopher McKinney; sister Valorie McKinney; nieces Crystal McManus, Brianna McKinney, Izzabella Long, and Autumn Harbour; nephew Josh McManus; foster sister Pam Goodwin; as well as father-in-law James McDermott and mother-in-law Bernice McDermott.

She is preceded in death by her father Donald McKinney, son Jesse Lee McDermott, and her foster sister Sheila.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Sherri's life will be held on June 8, 2024, at Victory Temple in Concord, NC. The service will begin at 6:00 PM.

Sherri Lynn McDermott touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and hard work. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
