Tracey Darnell Staton-Simmons

Tracey Darnell Staton – Simmons died unexpectedly in his home on April 11, 2026.

He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on May 3, 1972. He was educated in New Hanover County schools, UNC Charlotte, and received his bachelor's degree at Duke University. While continuing to live in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina, he worked in several medical offices and even a nuclear power plant.

Tracey had a keen interest along with talent in the field of music. From his high school years forward, he always had a personal studio where he composed and played hip-hop beats for popular recordings.

It was in Charlotte where he expanded his music production and his studio, founding Mega Intelligence LLC.

In 2020 he was married to Stacy Simmons, enjoying companionship and mutual love for the remainder of his life. 

Tracey is survived by his husband, Stacy Earl Simmons, his mother Terrie Staton-Paige, his stepfather Maxwell Paige, his sister Chrishna Dunn, and three nieces, Gelana Jones, Jeid’n Jones, and G’la Dunn, along with a multitude of relatives and loved ones. He is predeceased by his father, Chris Staton.

His funeral will be at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Rd. 28207 in Charlotte at 2 PM on Saturday, April 25. Immediately following will be interment of his ashes in the church’s memorial garden. Afterwards, there will be a reception in the Blue Room of the church.
