Yi Chae Sun Wright, a dedicated seamstress and longtime employee of McCormick Foods Inc., passed away on May 29, 2026, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Born on May 9, 1948, in Seoul, South Korea, Yi Chae Sun Wright’s life was marked by hard work, resilience, and a spirit of adventure.
Upon moving to the United States, Yi Chae Sun Wright began her career as a seamstress and later devoted over four decades of service to McCormick Foods Inc., where she was renowned not only for her work ethic but also for her signature egg rolls that became a cherished tradition among colleagues and family alike. Her commitment to providing for her family and embracing a new life in a foreign country stands as a testament to her perseverance and determination. Despite arriving in the US without knowing the language, she learned English and thrived, embodying the spirit of hard work and dedication that her daughter describes as unparalleled.
Upon arriving to the United States, Yi Chae Sun Wright met and married her first husband, with whom she had one daughter, Sueginh Wright Atkins. She is survived by Sueginh and her family, including grandchildren Tobias Atkins, Simeon Atkins, Moorea Atkins, and Harysn Atkins, as well as a great-grandchild, Novelty. Other surviving family members include Sueginh’s father, Harry Wright, and longtime friend Kim Rose. Yi Chae Sun Wright was preceded in death by her three brothers and her husband, Wesley Yarbrough.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Yi Chae Sun Wright had a vibrant personality characterized by her willingness to try new experiences. She developed a love for water skiing and found peace near water, embracing the serene comfort it brought her. Known for her exceptional cooking skills and seamstress talents, she delighted her family and friends alike. Her adventurous spirit extended to enjoying roller coasters and fearlessly tackling high water slides at theme parks alongside her grandchildren.
Her daughter honors her mother as the hardest-working woman she has ever known, reflecting a legacy defined by tireless effort and a cherished embrace of life’s challenges and joys.
Yi Chae Sun Wright’s life story is one of courage, adaptability, and enduring love, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in her favorite place, Hawaii.
