JoAnn Bowers

JoAnn Bowers, age 84, of Lake City, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 9, 2021. JoAnn was born on July 12, 1936 in Charlotte, NC to her late parents, Walter Paul and Bessie Kyaw.  She met the love of her life, her late husband, Reid Bowers, as a teenager, and they quickly fell in love. They later moved to Oak Ridge, TN for Reid's work in the nuclear plants. They raised their family and lived in Tennessee for the remainder of their time together.

JoAnn was incredibly loving, kind and compassionate with an amazing sense of humor. So many people lovingly called her Memaw because she made everyone feel like family. She loved and appreciated the beauty in God's creation such as flowers, rainbows, the leaves changing color, the beach and the mountains. She enjoyed reading magazines, some of her favorites were People, Guideposts and Country Music Magazine. She loved country music, camping, shopping and getting frequent manicures and pedicures. She valued spending time with her family above all else. She will forever be missed by her entire family.

JoAnn was a proud and loving wife, mother, and Memaw. She is survived by her children, Saronda Owens, Randy Bowers, Tina Gillis (Robert); grandchildren Autumn Grubb, Velvet Hicks (Russell), Josh Grubb, Clint McMahan (Taylor), Monique Bowers; great-grandchildren Destiny Jones, Madison Jones, Scarlet McMahan, Levi Hicks, Kash Hicks and Elliott Hicks and many other special friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Jorita Gay Bowers, her parents and many other loved ones.
