Marsha Louise Cooper transitioned Friday October 9, 2020, at home with her children in Concord. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago and succumbed to this disease. She was predeceased by parents, William E. Drake and Grace Drake and her daughter, April Lorraine Cooper.
She leaves her longtime companion of 22 years, Mr. Samuel Crenshaw. She was married to Wendell Cooper Sr. in her earlier years and gave birth to five children during their marriage. Children: Wendell Cooper Jr (Stella), Sonya Dee Cooper, Mark Elliot Cooper and Janice Leigh Jordan. She was the eldest of her Siblings; Dariel Sewell, Denise Drake, William Drake Jr., Craig Drake, Stanley Drake, James Drake, Carol Drake, Wayne Drake, Ellen Drake, Robert Drake, Darnell Drake and Pamela Drake and Gloria Thomas. 8 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and great grands.
She was born in Montclair, New Jersey on August 5, 1949 to William and Grace Drake. She was a long-time resident of Newark, New Jersey and Albany, New York until her last two years. She was lovingly cared for by her daughter Janice and her two granddaughters, Cheyenne and Dominique, whom she lived with in Concord, North Carolina. She worked at Revlon, New Jersey Transit, New York State Department of Social Services and retired from New York State Office of Unemployment.
Marsha loved to party and have good time and enjoyed all types of music. She also enjoyed traveling with Sam and preparing her famous potato salad. She was a generous woman, a good cook and an exceptionally good mother to her children. Marsha will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Harrisburg Funeral and Cremation, located at 3840 NC Hwy 49 South, Harrisburg, NC 28075. Mask will be required for this this event.
